On the hunt for a better future

On the Hunt for a Better Future

Though there are many different types of hunting, and every hunter has their own way and method, hunting must be done in a responsible way. And responsibility when it comes to nature and wildlife, is something we take seriously.

At Härkila, we are aiming to take the lead on sustainability within our industry, knowing there are many ways to do so. We are united in our wish to protect the nature and wildlife we value so highly, and we know we must take action now.

Even though we may not be perfect, and even if we have to change course along the way, we will never second-guess the hunt for a better future.

There is no going back. There is no standing still. We must move forward responsibly, and we are honored to do so with you by our side.

Materials

The key to reducing waste is quality

All Härkila products are made to last. We take every measure to ensure that all our materials are durable and long-lasting.

It is not only our fabrics that are the highest quality. It is the threading, the cut, and the fit – every element of each garment is designed and chosen with quality in mind. Härkila clothes, footwear, and gear are made to last through many seasons for years to come.

We are proud of this, because long-lasting products is one of the best ways to reduce waste. It minimizes the use of resources, both in materials and in the production, as well as transportation and product defects.

When you invest in gear that works for more than just one season, you invest in gear that won’t add to overconsumption and waste of resources.

A sharp gaze – not just on nature

Every batch of fabric is looked through for flaws or defects before being used in production, and from every shipment we pull samples for retesting and checking to ensure that they live up to the quality we demand.

To ensure this quality, we comply with the 2-year warranty. This means that all technical parts of the product are covered. So, if against all expectations our product does not last, we will repair it or give you a new one.

5 Year Warranty & Product Guarantees

We know the importance of quality and we pride ourselves on our products being long-lasting.

While we are required by law to offer a 2-year quality guarantee to our customers, we have extended the same guarantee to our retailers, as well as offer an extended 5 Year Warranty on select products.

Care & Repair

At Härkila, we want to ensure that you have all the information you need to maintain your garment. We want to guide you on how to make repairs. A single scratch or a small hole does not mean you have to throw away an otherwise perfectly good pair of pants, shirt, or jacket. We have specific care and repair products to help extend the life of the products, as well as the 2-year warranty on all manufacturing defects.

You can also contribute to the longevity of your gear by being mindful of over-washing. Every time you wash your clothes, it consumes energy and water, it wears the materials, and it challenges the potential wax or membrane protection. By being mindful and airing out garments and washing only when necessary, you minimize the garment’s impact on the environment and make it last even longer.

Production

Transparency is the currency of trust

While it is almost impossible to be perfectly sustainable, at Härkila we want to take responsibility and be as honest and as transparent as possible.

We are constantly looking for new ways to improve, not just in the production of the product, but also regarding how we communicate the best way to care for the products once they’re out and in use.

We want to do better by nature. This is why we make use of some of the most innovative and responsible technologies available and continue to implement better initiatives into our production in close cooperation with our suppliers.

We are committed to taking no new suppliers or manufacturing that are not sustainably certified in their field.

In 2021, 65 % of Härkila products contain sustainable materials, and we are always seeking more sustainable alternatives to conventional textiles.

When feasible, we want to choose the sustainable alternatives to our raw materials, such as:

  • Organic Cotton
  • BCI Cotton
  • Recycled polyester
  • Recycled denim
  • Lenzing
  • Bamboo
  • Bioplastic

Down and Feathers

The use of feathers and down from ducks, geese, and chicken is only permitted if they were obtained as a by-product of the food industry.

Wool

We encourage suppliers to make use of the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certification. If the wool is originated from Australia, we require a mulesing-free certificate.

Leather/Hides:

Supplier must inform about the origin of leather/hides. We encourage our suppliers to use the Oekotex Leather standard.

We prefer to work with suppliers who are certified in:

  1. Oeko-tex 100
  2. GOTS
  3. FSC
  4. ISO standard 14024
  5. Global Recycle Standard

Packaging

We aim for more sustainable packaging. Right now, all our POS material, catalogs, and hangtags are FSC certified. FSC certification ensures that the products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits.

Shipping

Your Härkila products are delivered directly from our headquarters in Greve, Denmark by DHL. DHL is committed to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and want to significantly reduce their greenhouse gas emission by 2030.
